Electric iron(3)

Earlier irons were made of cast iron and had a bucket shape. Charcoal was burned in the bucket, so it was called "iron". Europeans have ironed their clothes since the 17th century. They use a heavy "flat-bottomed iron" to heat them in a fire or a hot metal plate and then iron their clothes. This causes various problems, such as easily making the iron too hot and scorching the clothes. The worries about this matter are also manifested in the fact that when I started to try ironing, the iron block had not become completely hot. Sometimes the iron handle gets very hot. This means that people often hurt themselves when ironing. New York inventor Henry W. West changed all that yesterday. He invented the first practical electric iron in 1882. It is equipped with a wire element. When the current passes through, the wire will generate heat, which is the same principle as the traditional electric furnace.

Before energizing, check whether the protective layer of the wire is intact and whether it is damaged to prevent leakage.

Old-fashioned electric irons do not have a water inlet, so when ironing clothes, you need to dip some water on the fabric that you touch, or spread a damp cloth to prevent the fabric from being burned.

Steam irons need water, and preferably boiled or purified water without impurities. If it is general tap water, impurities inside may block the vents and affect the effect. In the process of adding water, pay attention to the amount of water, not too little, it is easy to evaporate in a short time. Be careful when pouring water into the water injection port. Do not spill water on other parts of the iron to avoid electric shock.

According to the material of the clothes you want to iron, select the corresponding temperature range, and then start heating. Don't pay attention to this step, otherwise the clothes may be scalded and burned.

During the heating process of the electric iron and during the intermittent ironing, the iron should be placed upright, and should not be placed aside, as it is easy to burn the items directly in contact with the iron.

After the steam iron is used up, if there is any remaining water, either discard it or continue to power on until the water is boiled off. If the water is not evaporated, the water may leak out by itself and adhere to the bottom plate, leaving water stains, which is not good for the maintenance of the machine.
