Electric iron is a cleaning appliance that uses electric heating to iron clothes, and it is also one of the essential appliances in modern households. It is a tool for leveling clothes and fabrics, and its power is generally between 300-1000W. Its types can be divided into: ordinary type, temperature-regulating type, steam type, neat spray type and other electric irons are made using the thermal effect of electric current and used to iron clothes. In 1882, American H.W. Sealy obtained the first electric iron patent. At the beginning of the 20th century, the electric iron invented by E. Richardson of the United States was put on the market and was welcomed. Electric irons are simple in structure, easy to manufacture, and convenient to use, so they develop rapidly. There are two types of electric irons that are produced and used more frequently in my country, the ordinary type and the ordinary temperature-regulating type. New types of electric irons such as jet type, spray type, constant temperature type and electrolytic steam type have also appeared. High power, light weight, automatic temperature adjustment, steam injection or spray, the pursuit of beautiful appearance is the development direction of the new generation of electric irons.

Radio iron: exquisite, portable, easy to operate, designed with specific clothing details, the head of the ironing board is designed with sharp corners, and it can be ironed on difficult areas such as necklines and cuffs.

The temperature-regulating electric iron is formed by adding a temperature control device to the ordinary electric iron. The temperature control element adopts bimetal, and the initial distance and pressure between the static and movable contacts on the bimetal can be changed by using the temperature adjusting knob to obtain the desired ironing temperature. The temperature adjustment range is generally 60～250℃.

The structure of an ordinary electric iron is very simple, mainly composed of a soleplate, an electric heating element, a pressure plate, a cover, a handle and other parts. Due to the inability to adjust the temperature, it has been gradually eliminated.

The steam-type electric iron is made by adding a steam generator and a steam controller on the basis of the temperature-regulating electric iron. It has the dual functions of temperature regulation and steam injection without manual water spraying.
